Teaching and course walks in Bishop deal

EVENT rider Ginnie Turnbull will be spreading the word about Bishop Burton College after signing a sponsorship deal.

The Leicestershire-based rider regularly competes at three- and four-star level at events including Burghley, Badminton and Belton.

She was recently presented with a new car which carries the college logo, by the principal, Jeanette Dawson.

She will also display the logo on her horsebox, tack and clothing.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Ginnie will visit the college regularly to work with students and she plans to hold clinics and demonstrations that will be open to the general public.

She will also be taking course walks on behalf of the college at events such as Bramham International Horse Trials.

Ginnie’s first official engagement at the college will be a clinic for students on November 24.

This will be followed by a showjumping master-class with Stephen Hadley, the former international show jumper and Olympic team member, which will be on February 16 and 17.

There is a chance to see top event rider Nicola Wilson and Chris Bartle, who trains the German event team, giving a joint demonstration at Ledston Equine Centre on December 16.

The theme of the evening is Training the Modern Event Horse and the experienced duo will be demonstrating and explaining the methods they use.

Nicola will be using at least three of her horses, including her gold-medal winning partner, Opposition Buzz, for the event.

Chris Bartle will talk about some of the methods he has used while training the German riders who were Olympic champions in 2008 and European champions this year.

Tickets are £25 and £15 for under 14s.
