Sharks and Jets suffer defeats as Cup final looms

Sheffield Sharks and Cheshire Jets suffered defeats last night – just seven days before they meet in the final of the BBL Cup at Birmingham's NIA.

Sharks were knocked out of the BBL Trophy by the Glasgow Rocks, while Jets went down in the BBL Championship to the Newcastle Eagles.

The Sharks lost 69-60 despite leading for the majority of the game – however the Rocks took control with a 12-2 tear putting them 62-55 ahead, a lead they were not to relinquish as they moved into the quarter-finals of the competition.

Newcastle Eagles closed the gap to just two points at the top of the Championship table thanks to a 75-70 victory over Jets, who also led for the majority of the game. Eagles got their noses in front midway through the final period and held on.
