Justin Morgan: Tomkins could blow apart Leeds’s hopes

IF Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow bring their ‘A’ game, Leeds have the ability to be as devastating as Wigan.

However, they have simply not done it as often as Sam Tomkins this season and his explosiveness could just blow them apart.

Regardless, I reckon it will be a cracking game.

Wigan are going in as hot favourites but that’s irrelevant and the scoreline will be a lot closer than many imagine.

We saw in the semis when Leeds were big favourites to beat Cas’ that they needed a golden point and Wigan’s semi with Saints was tight as well.

While the form of Wigan throughout Super League has been superior to Leeds’ you can’t forget as well that Wigan aren’t playing a side which hasn’t experienced big finals.

Leeds were there last year and have all that knowledge from so many Grand Finals, too.

If the Rhinos are to succeed, they need Danny Buderus to have a major impact.

If he plays a lot of minutes and they have plenty of ball, he is still one of the best players in the world.

Buderus could be a Lance Todd Trophy winner if Leeds do take it and he gets on top while someone like Sean O’Loughlin might pip Tomkins for Wigan.

Neither club has won the Challenge Cup for a while so there is plenty of expectation.

I think it will be tight with Wigan winning by about four points.

I’ll be working for the BBC tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

As for my own future, nothing is sorted for next year yet. We’ll see what happens but first we’ve got some big games coming up with Rovers as we look to get in to the top eight. That’s my main aim.
