Injured Robinson confident of recovering in time for 'must-win' showdown

England's pocket battleship Luke Robinson is hoping to get the chance to sink Australia in Sunday's must-win Four Nations game at AAMI Park.

The Huddersfield half-back or hooker, who postponed his wedding after being given the chance to make his international debut, says the tourists have had little time to dwell on their opening Four Nations defeat by the Kiwis as they focus on their next task.

"It's my first experience of being in a touring party and one of the big things I've realised is that you don't get much time really," he said.

"When the games do come round, even though we lost, you can't dwell on it too much, we have to learn pretty quickly.

"We have to take the positives out of the game and correct the deficiencies we had and, if we do that, we'll go a long way to having a good dig."

The 26-year-old made a big impact from the bench in England's 18-18 draw with New Zealand Maori and also caught the eye in last Saturday's 24-10 defeat by the Kiwis.

He picked up an arm injury after making a break in the second half but is expected to recover in time and is tipped to make his first start for his country.

"I'm a little bit sore but hopefully I'll get an opportunity to play," he said. "If selected, I'm raring to go.

"I don't mind whether I'm coming off the bench or starting, I think I've got a decent knack of bringing a bit of a spark if I do come off the bench but, if I got an opportunity to start, I'd grab it with both hands obviously.

"It was an honour and privilege to play against New Zealand, who are claiming they've got the best team they've had for years.

"And it would be the same to play against Australia in their own backyard.

"It doesn't come any tougher than that."
