Frazzle dazzles the ladies

A NEW bull at a North Yorkshire farm is causing a stir

The one-tonne virgin bull, Frazzle, is the latest addition to the organic herd at Acorn Dairy, which operates farms in North Yorkshire.

But his introduction was bit of a culture shock after being in the company of bulls for the past two years. "The ladies did mob him slightly," said Acorn Dairy director Caroline Tweddle. "They were very interested in him and he did look a bit shocked.

"At one point we were wondering whether he even liked the ladies but he seems to have settled down now."

Frazzle, a pedigree Aberdeen Angus, and the son of a bull called King Kong, will sire about 100 calves a year.

Operating from Spennithorne, near Leyburn and another site near Darlington, Acorn processes about 60,000 litres of milk a week which it distributes to 1,500 doorstep customers, supermarkets, hotels and Newcastle University's Organic Farm at Nafferton.
