Knights eye silverware in Gateshead

HEAD coach Daniel Plant is confident his Grosvenor Casino Sheffield Knights players can avoid complacency and clinch silverware in Gateshead on Sunday.

The Knights compete in the final UK National Ball Hockey qualifier of the season and begin their campaign against Durham Ninjas, with further ties against Tayside Thunder, North East Dekstars and Northumbira University Sharks.

Plant, whose team enter the tournament on the back of a 6-2 TransPennine Cup success against Manchester-based Shaw Millionaires, said: “We are taking a strong team up to Gateshead and we will see the impact that can have.

“We are in fine form at the moment and results are showing that. We need to make sure we aren’t complacent, but a strong start to the tournament could be a deciding factor.”

The tournament sees a return to action for veteran goaltender Daniel Croskell, while competitive debuts will be handed to forwards Jaret Rose and Vlastimil Loukota as well as defenceman Tom Walkeden.

Updates from the tournament will be available through the Knights Twitter account @sheffknights.
