Hemingway's haul helps Hallam hit back

BEN BAILEY south YORKS IT was 'water-points' almost all-round for the League, with just one match played in the Premier Division.

Whitley Hall, with the strongest team assembled in the club's history, had been looking to test themselves against champions Treeton after whipping out Hallam for 71 a week earlier.

However, it was a better day for Hallam, who did a demolition job on top-flight newcomers Whiston, who were sent packing for 72, destroyed by Jesse Hemingway's 5-27 and Dan Holmes's 4-19. The visitors went on to win by seven wickets.

In Division One, Norton Oakes made a winning reply to Collegiate's 186-8, in which Riaz Richards struck an unbeaten 67 and junior Charles Longdale (60).

Oakes closed on 187-7, James Winnard following his three-wicket effort with 71 not out, Alex Hughes chipping in with a half-century.

Doncaster Town finished at 147-9 with an unbeaten 61 from Alan Stoves, guests Bradfield taking the points with 148-7, youngster Ashley Cross making 57.

In Division Two, Thorncliffe dismissed Frecheville for 152 in which teenager Dean Smith and Matt Dexter hit half-centuries, Aktar Shafiq grabbing 7-47, and went on to a two-wicket victory, Sajid Razak top bat with 40.

Whitley Hall B set a 189-7 target for Hallam B, Mark Hope carrying his bat for 56, the hosts taking the points with their

192-8 reply, Neil Mountjoy slamming 50.

Elsecar seconds made 129, only teenager Ethan Gray staying for long with a stylish 65 as Maltby brothers Gary and Kevin Porter shared the wickets before they won on 130-8.

Wath B were rushed out for 90 by Rossington's Roy Nelson

(6-14) and Mike Townsend (4-29), the hosts easing to a six-wicket win.

Norton Oakes B contained Coal Aston B to 122-5, opener Paul Sweet hitting 59, and went on to win by nine wickets, John Davidson 49 not out.

Barnsley C junior Steve Walters became top batsman of the day when cracking an unbeaten 78 in his side's winning reply to Tickhill B's 139 in Division Three.

Dearne B beat Oughtibridge in Division Four. Their match-winners were Peter Moss, who captured 6-31 as Oughtibridge fell for 126, and John Millward, who made 50 not out.
