Saltburn’s Imogen Cook (22 handicap), Rudding Park’s Evie Cooke (18), Huddersfield’s Jess Hosking (28), Knaresborough’s Rachel Seal (16), Moor Allerton’s Amelia Smith (23) and Ganton’s Lucy Walker (25) had trailed Durham after the Stableford section.

But all six girls won their singles matches, which saw them finish well ahead of not only second-placed Cumbria but also the other teams from Cheshire, Durham, Lancashire and Northumberland.

Cook and Walker carded 36 Stableford points, Hosking 33, Cooke 28, Seal 27 and Smith 25.

Both Cooke and Seal will be competing at Headingley GC on Wednesday in the Northern Region Girls’ Close Championship.

The 36-hole competition age limit is 18 and there will also be prizes for best Under-16 and Under-14.

Hallamshire’s Holly Morgan won last year while on Wednesday Cleckheaton’s Megan Clarke will be looking to add the crown to go with her Yorkshire Junior Championship.
