Nolan becomes the fifth arrival of the summer at York City
Irishman Nolan, 26, has penned a one-year deal at Bootham Crescent and follows the signings of fellow defender George Swan, goalkeeper Scott Flinders, forward Vadaine Oliver and utility man James Berrett.
Nolan can play operate a right back or left-back with his arrival following on from York missing out on bringing back loan defender Brad Halliday to the club from Middlesbrough.

Hide AdNolan fell out of favour at Iron under Mark Robins last term, in a campaign which also saw him hindered by injury.
The defender was a regular for Wilcox during the Iron’s promotion to the third tier in 2013-14.
Nolan started his career at Blackburn and had loan spells at Stockport, Hartlepool and Preston before signing for North End permanently.
He had a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday in 2010 before joining Scunthorpe permanently.
The trio of Femi Ilesanmi, Lindon Meikle and Marvin McCoy remain on the transfer list at York, who recently saw third-choice keeper Jason Mooney join Accrington.
