York City 1 Grimsby Town 0: Constantine strikes for Minstermen

A WELL-TAKEN goal by 32-year-old Leon Constantine gave York City a well-deserved victory over Grimsby Town.

Despite a much-changed team, York played with plenty of confidence and limited Grimsby to an early chance, Dean Sinclair shooting over, but York should have added to their lead in added time when Constantine shot over with only the goalkeeper to beat.

New signing Jamie Reed missed a glorious chance on his home debut in the fourth minute, running clear only to shoot wide with only Kenny Arthur to beat.

York played some fine attacking football and it was no surprise when they went ahead in the 19th minute, Danny Parslow putting the ball through for Constantine to run on and chip over the advancing Arthur.

Reed put a first-time shot wide after the interval, and Lee Peacock headed wide and Alan Connell shot over for Grimsby.
