Isgrove, whose loan stint from Southampton was due to expire at the end of the month, will now stay with the Reds for the rest of the season.

Irishman Long, whose second month’s loan expired on Wednesday, has been granted permission by the Clarets to remain at Oakwell until January 30, with his spell up to and including the trip to Swindon.

Meanwhile, head coach Lee Johnson is running the rule over free agent defender Andre Bikey.

The ex-Middlesbrough and Reading player, 31, is currently training at Oakwell - having recently played in the Indian Super League with North East United.

On Bikey, Johnson, who said that the club have had no firm bids for any of their players - said: “Andre is in with us and obviously his last club was in India.

“He is just getting back into the swing of it, really and it is a case of us knowing what he can do, ability wise, but just checking on fitness.

“We will just have to see. It’s not really a trial as we know what Andre is about. It is more a fitness trial, if you like.

“It is a chance of will he fit into what we are trying to do. Maybe, maybe not. We have him in for another couple of days and will assess then.”
