Tamworth 1-3 York City: Porter stakes early claim for Foyle's job
Porter said he would like the job following the unexpected resignation of Martin Foyle – a possible target for Kettering and Altrincham, who released their managers last week.
Former York players Andy McMillan and Malcolm Crosby and former Swindon and Reading chief Jimmy Quinn are being connected with the York job.

Tamworth, who had beaten leaders Mansfield, Luton and Grimsby in recent home games, were the better side for 20 minutes but once York had settled it was a different story.
Richard Tait's challenge on Alex Lawless when he was running towards the corner handed York a 25th-minute penalty converted by Michael Rankine and Michael Gash provided the pass for Lawless (57) to make it 2-0.
Neil Barrett crossed for the unmarked Fyfield (73) to score the third before Scott Barrow (81) rocketed home a free-kick.
