Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore clarifies contract stance with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru plus Ben Heneghan update

DARREN MOORE has confirmed that contract talks are on hold with Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

The player is out of contract next summer with uncertainly over his future being rife.

He started the season in explosive fashion with a brace in the 3-3 opening weekend draw with Portsmouth, but he struggled for consistent game time.

Blackpool tested Wednesday's resolve with a couple of bids before the transfer deadline, which were rebuffed by the Hillsborough outfit.

Earlier in the season, Bristol City were credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, who has scored three goals in five outings in all competitions this term.

Turkish outfits Besiktas and Antalyaspor were among other clubs linked.

Moore, speaking before Saturday's League One home game with high-flying Ipswich Town at Hillsborough, said: "Talks are on hold.

"I have left that to one or two others in the club to pick that up.

"The most important thing for myself and Fizz is to stay focused on the training pitch.

"We feel with Fizz he is more of a complete midfield player. What we are trying to do is work on the final 25 per cent of his game where people are eulogising about his performance."

Moore confirmed that defender Ben Heneghan is progressing well in his recuperation from a muscle injury which has sidelined him since the EFL Cup game with Rochdale last month.

He added: "Ben Heneghan is making good progress.

"Akin (Famewo) and Dennis (Adeniran) are longer term ones.

"We had scrapes and bruises the other night. Hopefully all being well we will see what shape the group are in and go from there.
