Sheffield Wednesday v Brighton & Hove Albion: Icelander's interest in Owls cooling

FORMER West Ham United chairman Eggert Magnusson has cooled on possible investment in Sheffield Wednesday.

Although speculation this week linked the Icelandic businessman with an imminent move for the League One club, sources at Hillsborough say it has been several months since he was last in touch.

The absence of ongoing negotiations suggests that Magnusson is no longer a potential buyer, although the door will remain open.

Chicago-based company Club 9 Sports have also failed to press ahead with their plans but the Owls insist they are in 'advanced' talks with serious investors as they seek a way of moving forward with a 25m debt.

The Owls are unbeaten so far this season but winger Gary Teale said ahead of today's game: "It is pleasing to have four points on the board but performance-wise, we still have a lot to do and plenty to improve on."
