Scarborough Athletic v Darlington halted due to discriminatory language

Scarborough Athletic’s National League North clash with Darlington on Bank Holiday Monday was temporarily halted after allegations of discriminatory language.

The game was stopped on 54 minutes when Darlington scored their third goal to go 3-0 up.

A club statement on Twitter a few minutes later read: “We would like to emphasise that discriminatory language of any nature will not be tolerated.

“Please respect the match officials, players and fellow fans.”

The game resumed shortly after 3pm with Darlington adding a fourth not long after.

Scarborough would eventually lose 5-2.
