Rotherham United v Accrington Stanley: Grabban benched as Harrad to start

Rotherham United’s top goalscorer Lewis Grabban looks set to start on the bench tonight as Andy Scott places his faith in the men who last week revived the Millers’ season.

Grabban has scored 15 goals this term and despite the club’s inconsistency has proven an adequate replacement for poacher extraordinaire Adam Le Fondre.

Yet he watched Rotherham’s surprise win at Southend from the bench as new signing Shaun Harrad and his strike partner Alex Revell found the back of the net.

With the Millers buoyant following the collection of three points which revive their faint play-off hopes, Scott is likely to stick with the same strike pairing for the visit of Accrington tonight.

Defender Michael Raynes returns from a one-match ban but he is unlikely to displace Johnny Mullins or Richard Naylor at the back so will battle it out with Ryan Cresswell for a place on the bench.

Gareth Evans (thigh), Luke Foster and Jamie Annerson (both knee) are out.

Rotherham’s temporary home of the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, which is always susceptible to the cold weather, has been deemed playable for tonight.

Rotherham’s player facilities manager Dave Fellowes said: “The temperatures are set to be six to eight degrees (overnight) so we won’t even have to have a pitch inspection.”

Accrington have appointed their former midfielder Paul Cook as new manager after reaching an agreement with Sligo Rovers for his release.

Caretaker manager Leam Richardson will remain in charge for tonight’s game before taking up the role of Cook’s assistant.
