Rotherham United 2 Dagenham and Redbridge 3: Pressure building on Scott’s men as Daggers strike the killer blow

HAVING surrendered all hope of an automatic promotion place, the Millers are in danger of missing out on a place in the play-offs.

This was a crucial win for Dagenham & Redbridge, who moved out of the bottom two after beating faltering Rotherham, who are now six points adrift of seventh place.

Danny Harrison put the Millers ahead with the only goal of the first half, a volley from 20 yards, but Jon Nurse levelled five minutes after the break with a header before an own goal from Mark Bradley, who deflected in Abu Ogogo’s shot in the 62nd minute, made it 2-1.

A minute later, things were all square as Alex Revell struck with a header but Scott Doe won the game 12 minutes from time and Rotherham’s miserable afternoon was complete when Michael Raynes was sent off late on for his second booking of the game.

Rotherham United manager Andy Scott claimed: “We’ve created more chances probably than we’ve had in two or three games.

“They were really good chances, not just half chances, they were one-on-ones or shots in front of goal.

“Their goalkeeper has made a great save, Lewis Grabban has missed a one-on-one in the first half and then had one cleared off the line. It just didn’t go in for us.

“When you concede goals from set pieces as easy as that you’ve got no chance, especially against Dagenham.

“We knew they were going to chuck everything at us, we knew they were going to pump balls in and make things difficult for us. We should have dealt with it.”
