Evans casting envious eyes towards Fleetwood after Ferguson’s capture

But when it comes to the signing made by tonight’s opponents Fleetwood Town, Evans can only doff his cap.

The Football League’s newest side have landed former Scotland international and Birmingham and Blackburn midfielder Barry Ferguson on loan.

Ferguson was playing just along the north west coast at Blackpool before the Cod Army made their move.

“His performances over the years in his career have been nothing short of outstanding and Fleetwood have really pulled it out of the bag. He has been inspirational in his career. He is a top, top talent. I just don’t know how they have got him there, it’s a sensational piece of business.”

Saturday’s win over League One Stevenage booked an FA Cup second-round date with another high-flier from the league above, Notts County.

It is a tie Evans believes should be picked for television, but before then, he wants to make it five out of five at Fleetwood, who are fourth in League Two, two points and two places above the Millers.
