BREAKING: Rotherham reject new Owls bid for Le Fondre

ROTHERHAM UNITED have rejected a third bid - believed to be around £300,000 - for striker Adam Le Fondre from Sheffield Wednesday, writes Richard Sutcliffe

Owls manager Megson is desperate to pep up his strikeforce ahead of the transfer window closing next week and he confirmed today that two bids are on the table for unnamed forwards.

One of these is Le Fondre, as Millers chief operating officer Paul Douglas confirmed. He said: “We have had a bid (from Wednesday) and we have rejected that bid for not meeting our valuation.”

Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart is adamant that the club want to hold on to their star striker. He added: “Coventry came in with a joke bid a fortnight or so ago but I am sure they weren’t serious.

“I got the impression it was more a case of them wanting to show their supporters that they were trying to do something.

“Our view is that if Alf stays we have a good chance of winning promotion. So we want him to stay.”
