Rotherham United frustrated in attempts to bring in Millwall's Lee Gregory

MILLWALL manager Neil Harris has reiterated his desire to keep hold of Rotherham United target Lee Gregory - after reportedly rejecting an offer of £1.2m from the Millers late last week.

Sheffield-born Gregory, who hit 27 goals last term, has attracted three bids from Rotherham, according to reports in the capital, but has denied that he has submitted a written transfer request following one report.

Several other clubs have also been linked with Gregory, who moved to the Lions from FC Halifax Town for £250,000 in June 2014, including Sheffield Wednesday and Celtic.

But it is the Millers who have made the concerted efforts to test the resolve of Millwall with a bid which easily surpasses their previous club record deal of £350,000.

Harris said: “Rotherham have bid for Lee, who had an exceptional season last year. There is going to be interest in our players, because we have got very good ones.

“But the club have turned it down. And just as importantly - more importantly - we have 100 per cent not received any transfer request from Lee Gregory.

“Lee is a boy who wants to play at the best level he can. He is happy playing for us.

“I had an excellent relationship with Lee last year and found a way to get the best out of him. I’d like that to continue next season.”

The Millers are also interested in Walsall frontman Tom Bradshaw, with the club having so far made just one close-season signing - ex-Saddlers winger Anthony Forde.
