Rotherham United 0 Bradford City 0: Warrington denies City shock victory

GOALKEEPER Andy Warrington was Rotherham's hero for the second game in a row as Bradford came close to an unlikely win.

Rotherham were shut out by the Bantams as they hunted for their second win in four days – and then produced a sting in the tail with four later chances in just two minutes.

Rotherham, unbeaten at home in a sparkling start to the season, would have led by the break but for City's dogged rearguard action.

The Millers, victors over local rivals Chesterfield on Saturday, went close only 70 seconds from the start when Kevin Ellison steered a header over from Nicky Law's cross.

When Ellison beat the offside trap he had no support when he crossed into the area.

Ellison was a threat again after Johnny Mullins won a free-kick after being cut down by Luke O'Brien.

The offence earned O'Brien a yellow card and Ellison came within a fraction of punishing the Bantams further when he curled in a dangerous free-kick that drifted inches wide.

Rotherham's nine-goal leading scorer Adam Le Fondre might have added to his tally but a 20-yarder was wide and another long-range effort from the prolific striker was fingertipped wide by Jon McLaughlin.

City's wide man Omar Daley had provided the only threat for the visitors blazing a wayward early effort wide but seconds before the break he cut in cleverly from the left and his stinging shot was turned over the top by Andy Warrington.

City started brighter after the break and Daley carved out another opening but his long-range effort was wide of the mark.

But only a string of saves from Warrington kept out City as they searched for a rare win with an impressive two-minute spell with 20 minutes to go.

Tom Adeyemi broke on the edge of the area and produced a thumping shot but the keeper scooped it away.

And as City racked up a string of corners Warrington again denied Adeyemi.

Steve Williams was in on the act but Warrington turned away his effort before blocking a point-blank shot from Gareth Evans.
