Old Trafford rookie agrees to Tigers loan deal

Manchester United winger Cameron Stewart joined Hull City yesterday as a host of Football League managers bolstered their squads before the 5pm deadline for emergency loan signings.

Stewart, 19, has yet to play for United and is out of contract this summer. He joined Yeovil on a six-month loan deal at the start of this season but returned to Old Trafford in October after starting just two games.

Hull assistant manager Craig Shakespeare said: "I'm really excited without wanting to put too much pressure on him. He's direct and he's got pace and he can take players on and he's got a decent end product."

Stewart, who is on loan until January 4, is following in the footsteps of striker Fraizer Campbell whose loan deal from United in 2008 was one of the catalysts for Hull's promotion to the Premier League.

Former Hull manager Warren Joyce, now reserve team coach at Old Trafford, said: "Every player has his own strengths and weaknesses but Cameron is very much in the mould of Fraizer. He has pace to burn, he's hungry to play first-team football and he knows what a great chance going to Hull is. He is a player in his own right and he will want to show Hull what he can do."

Striker Rowan Vine, who recently returned to Queens Park Rangers after a spell on loan at Hull, has moved on loan to Brentford.

Barnsley have agreed to extend defender Matt Hill's loan from Wolves until January 22.

Hill is currently back with Wolves having suffered a foot injury in only his second appearance for Barnsley but manager Mark Robins said: "We have spoken with the medical team at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Matt should be fit in a week or 10 days. We are delighted to have him back and he did well when he was here last time. Matt will strengthen our squad ahead of a very busy spell."

Doncaster Rovers have extended the loan signing of Southampton left-back Joseph Mills until January 19.

Mills, the younger brother of former Rovers defender Matt, has missed the club's last three games with an ankle problem but is close to a return to action.

Rovers defender Mustapha Dumbuya, meanwhile, has signed a new 18-month deal after securing a regular first-team place. Dumbuya, 23, joined Rovers on trial two summers ago after being released by non-league Maidenhead United.

Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore completed deals for both Hull City winger Will Atkinson and West Bromwich Albion defender Paul Downing.

The transfer window re-opens to clubs in both the Football League and the Premier League on January 1.
