Town’s first game under new manager Mark Robins on Sunday ended with a 4-1 FA Cup home defeat to an impressive Wigan Athletic side.

But loan midfielder Danns insists Town are not about to beat themselves up following the hefty defeat to the Premier League outfit, with their overwhelming priority being second-tier survival.

What will effectively be a 15-game Championship season for Robins starts at Nottingham Forest, with 18th-placed Town having work to do to clinch safety with the side just three points above Barnsley, the side in the final relegation spot.

Danns said: “We are not going to come up against teams like Wigan week-in, week-out in our league and I am more than confident we have more than enough to survive.

“In our last three league games, we have played two of the top teams in Cardiff and Crystal Palace and taken four points from them, which does say we have got enough. We will be using that as an incentive to push on.”

While it was a disappointing first game in charge for Robins, Danns says he and his team-mates have been impressed by the former Coventry City chief.

Danns has already garnered enough to suggest Robins is not the sort to give players the hair-dryer treatment at frequent intervals, getting his message across instead in measured and analytical terms.

He added: “The training has been good, although Sunday was a tough game to go straight into against a Premiership side. But the boys are positive and looking forward to working with Mark.

“From what I have gathered, he is not the sort who is going to rant and rave. But he gets his point across and you can respect that.

“He has come here to do a job and the signs have been positive and we have all enjoyed training and we will all be jumping on board with his plans.”
