League One's dirtiest teams - where Barnsley, Derby County, Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth, Reading and more rank

League One is known to be a particularly intense and physical divison.

It is not unusual for tensions to boil over and sometimes, referees are forced to take action.

A staggering 636 yellow cards have been dished out in the third tier this season, as well as 17 second yellows and 21 straight red cards.

League One’s only Yorkshire representatives, Barnsley, are responsible for a decent chunk of those cards. Neill Collins’ side do not have a reputation for ill discipline but do not sit in the relegation zone of the fair play table.

But where do they rank among League One’s dirtiest teams?

Transfermarkt have developed a points system assigning one point to a yellow card, three points to a yellow-red card and five points to a red card.

This system has allowed for the creation of a fair play table and here is where Barnsley sit compared to their League One rivals.
