Huddersfield Town look for players to leave before new additions

Town announced a number of deals in the first half of the close season and were among the busiest clubs in the country.

Six players were brought into the club before the start of pre-season training in the shape of Jordan Rhodes, Matty Pearson, Lee Nicholls, Oliver Turton, Josh Ruffels and loanee Levi Colwill.

Town have not finalised their business yet, but it is envisaged that players will leave before any further new faces arrive.

Hodgkinson said: ”I was very happy that we brought in the players for the positions we targeted ahead of pre-season training and things are going well on the training pitch under Carlos Corberán.

“We haven’t concluded our business yet, but – as I stated previously – it is as likely players will leave before any more signings are made at this stage.

“We’re working continuously on potential ins and outs and will update you (fans) as we go.

“Everyone’s target here is to put the best football team we can out on the pitch, while ensuring the club is as sustainable as possible.

“Those goals have not changed, and we’re all working as hard as possible to move us up the table this coming season.”

Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock has confirmed that defender Darnell Fisher is likely to be sidelined for the 2021-22 season due to a freak injury sustained in the close season.

The former Rotherham United and Preston player, who only joined Boro in January, suffered a serious knee injury at home.

It prompted Warnock to bring in former Leeds United captain Lee Peltier, who also previously worked with the veteran manager at Cardiff City, on a one-year deal

Fears were abound that Fisher had sustained a bad injury and Warnock has confirmed that the 27-year-old – who joined the club on a two-and-a-half year contract – is now likely to undergo an operation.

Warnock said: “From what he’s telling us, it was a complete accident the way that he did it.

“It was an accident with a mate slipping and falling on him and crashing onto his knee. It’s the back of his knee or something.”

Former Liverpool and Glasgow Rangers defender Jon Flanagan, 28, who had been on trial at Doncaster Rovers, has signed for Danish outfit HB Koge.

They are managed by ex-Anfield favourite Daniel Agger.
