Forward thinking is answer for Town at home

The Terriers were involved in one of the Championship season’s most dramatic finales on Tuesday night against Norwich City.

James Vaughan put Town 2-1 ahead five minutes into stoppage time only to then be red carded for his over-exuberant celebrations.

Promotion-chasing Norwich then hit back in the 98th minute when Jamar Loza netted his first senior goal to rescue a point at the death.

Chris Powell’s men were, understandably, distraught to miss out on a win at the final whistle but there was still plenty to savour from a Town perspective.

“It was a marker as to how we want to play,” admitted midfielder Coady to The Yorkshire Post. “We want to be like that at the John Smith’s. We want to get the crowd on our side and get them behind us.

“We can only do that by playing on the front foot and getting bodies forward. And creating chances. As the two goals showed, we did that against Norwich. Both came from our strikers. Ishmael (Miller) was outstanding. Him and Vaughany were top, top drawer and probably the best I have seen them play together.

“Not winning was disappointing but we have so much to build on. The gaffer has come in and made his points. The way we played in the last two games is how we want to go forward as a team and a club. We have to get on the front foot, get in people’s faces and try to stop them playing.”

Huddersfield have an opportunity to once again set the pace on home soil this weekend when Fulham head to the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Cottagers are one of three teams below Powell’s men in the table that still have to take on the Terriers, who moved 10 points clear of the bottom three with the draw against Norwich.

Vaughan will be missing through suspension but Nahki Wells, absent for the last five matches with a shoulder problem has a chance of being involved.

Coady added: “The run-in is like a mini-season for us. We are two games unbeaten now and the key is to carry on going. We want to pick up as many points as possible. Fulham is massive on Saturday and we have to do the same as we did against Norwich.”
