The Terriers were handed the plum draw last night as Middlesbrough, Yorkshire’s other representative in the last 16, were also given a home tie, against Oxford United.

Other mouth-watering ties include Sutton United, conquerors of Leeds United in round four, hosting Arsenal and Manchester United travelling to Blackburn Rovers.

Lincoln City, non-League’s other remaining side along with Sutton, head to Premier League Burnley over the weekend of February 17 -20.

In Yorkshire, however, there can be little doubt what the glamour tie is after David Wagner’s men were handed the ultimate test against one of world football’s richest clubs.

Aaron Mooy will not be able to play under the terms of his loan deal from the Etihad, but there was much excitement among the Australian’s team-mates on social media.

Kasey Palmer, Philip Billing, Joe Lolley and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis were just some of Wagner’s squad to hail the draw on Twitter and the John Smith’s Stadium is likely to be full to capacity for the first meeting between the two clubs since February, 2000, when Shaun Goater cancelled out a strike from Clyde Wijnhard in a 1-1 stalemate. Town had won the previous meeting at Maine Road thanks to a Chris Beech goal.

Huddersfield last met City in the FA Cup during the 1987-88 season, when the Blues triumphed 3-0 in a second replay. That was the same campaign that saw the Terriers beaten 10-1 at Maine Road in the league.

As for Middlesbrough, this will be the third consecutive round that Aitor Karanka’s men have played opposition from a lower division on home soil.

Boro beat Sheffield Wednesday and Accrington Stanley to reach the fifth round and with 12 Premier League teams already out, a possible path to Wembley is opening up.

Dates of all eight ties are expected to be confirmed later this week with just one replay – between Derby County and Leicester City – meaning it should, in theory, be easier for the BBC and BT Sport to select their live games.

FA Cup fifth round draw:

Burnley v Lincoln

Fulham v Tottenham

Blackburn v Manchester United

Sutton v Arsenal

Middlesbrough v Oxford

Wolves v Chelsea

Huddersfield Town v Manchester City

Millwall v Derby/Leicester

Ties to be played February 17-20.
