Rovers’ last shut-out and home victory arrived back on March 22 and their wait for an overdue first home success since continued following a 0-0 League One draw with Crawley on Tuesday night in front of a sparse crowd of 5,197.

It leaves Rovers in 18th spot in the division, with their best moments arriving late on when Theo Robinson was thwarted by a fine double save from former Leeds United keeper Jamie Ashdown, making his debut for Crawley after spending a brief trial spell at Doncaster in the summer.

Rovers manager Dickov said: “I was disappointed not to win the game, we were a lot better than what we have been recently, I must say.

“I am reasonably pleased, moreso with the clean sheet. After conceding five goals in the previous two games, it was imperative we got back to having a base to build on.

“I thought we put them under pressure for the majority of the second half and in the first 25 minutes, we started very well.

“Then we seemed to lose a bit of belief. But we told them at half-time to be brave.

“When things aren’t quite going your way, you need to stand up and be counted and work as hard as you can. If you do that, fans will appreciate it and also start picking up results.”
