Trump edged ahead by taking the deciding black ball before a 79 clearance from Robertson restored parity at 2-2 at the mid-session interval.

A superb 122 clearance gave the 21-year-old from Bristol a 3-2 lead, before Robertson delivered a century of his own, 129, to level again.

Trump then made it 5-3, including a 54 clearance, before a 100 break from the world champion cut the deficit to just 5-4 at the end of the first session.

Trump mad several chances to increase his lead at the start of the evening session, but Robertson refused to wilt as he dragged himself back to 7-6 in their best-of-19 match.
