Barnsley struck by Toney blow
Injuries have forced the Mapgies to bring back the young forward - ahead of Coventry marksman Adam Armstrong - who has scored two goals in eight games for the Reds during his loan spell, while impressing many with his performances.
But head coach Lee Johnson has revealed he would be keen on bringing back Toney in the new year if the situation changes at Newcastle in the new year.

Hide AdHead coach Lee Johnson, hoping to extend defender Kevin Long’s loan from Burnley and also keen on keeping Aidan White at the club, said: “It’s unfortunate with the situation that’s developed but Newcastle have to protect themselves over the Christmas period.
“I had a nice call from Paul Simpson (Newcastle United Assistant Head Coach) explaining the situation which I appreciate.
“It’s the same with any loan and unfortunate for ourselves but Ivan is their player.
“He’s done really well and helped himself to a couple of goals. I’d like to place on record our thanks to both Newcastle United and Ivan.”
