Doncaster Rovers V Wolverhampton: Promotion priority for hot-shot Sharp

Sharp has hit top form, scoring against former clubs Scunthorpe and Sheffield United in Doncaster Rovers' last two Championship games, but the FA Cup is low on his priorities.

Doncaster entertain Mick McCarthy's Wolverhampton in the FA Cup third round but top scorer Sharp, who has reached double figures for the season, says: "I'd sooner get into the play-offs and get knocked out by Wolves in the FA Cup.

"I know it won't happen just like that so we will try and do really well against them and get into the next round. It will be an enjoyable game and a good test against Premiership quality and it is a game to look forward to.

"The FA Cup is a big thing for a club like Doncaster not least because it brings in revenue and, obviously, it is good for the fans, too. I don't want a draw because we have too many games coming up. We will go out and try and win the game like we do every time."

Left-back Joseph Mills, back at Rovers after recovering from ankle trouble, is hoping to add to his list of firsts after being given permission by parent club Southampton to play in the tie.

It will be his first taste of FA Cup action, though he has savoured success in cup football by being part of Saints' Johnstone's Paint Trophy winning side.

Having scored his first goal in senior football against Scunthorpe, whom he helped to promotion to the Championship while on loan as a teenager, the 21-year-old Rovers defender says: "I think we go into any game and fancy our chances, especially in the FA Cup. There are a lot of lower teams who beat higher teams so you can't guess what the result is going to be. It's a game I am relishing. We will not change how we play and, hopefully, we will show people a few things."
