Kirkburton fall foul of France’s accuracy

France bowled just five overs but his accurate medium pace tormented Kirkburton’s batsmen, who were dismissed for 73 in 25 overs, France taking 5-13. Louis Brook also played his part with 3-24 from seven overs. Scholes won by six wickets in 15 overs – their first victory in four matches.

Shepley maintained their slick pace at the top with a six-wicket victory over Marsden, who were sent back for 101. Shepley passed the visitors’ total after 21 overs.

Golcar captain Steve Whitwam hit his first league century of the season as his side climbed above Kirkburton into second place, but they had only eight runs to spare at lowly Skelmanthorpe.

Whitwam posted 112, Cameron Fletcher offering excellent support with 73. Haroon Rashid struck a defiant 77 for Skelmanthorpe but they finished just short of Golcar’s 226-6.

Honley had a seven-wicket home success against Shelley, who recovered from 16-4 after 13 overs to 156-9, Bilal Khiljee and Moosa Bhoola adding 121 for the fifth wicket. Veteran right-arm medium pace bowler Ritchie Howarth claimed four Shelley victims for 35 runs in 18 economical overs. Simon Kelly amassed 101 not out, including 19 boundaries, as Honley won in 35.4 overs.

Delph & Dobcross hit 342-7 against Hall Bower, who lost by 233 runs. Irfan Zahoor and Kevin Hook had an opening partnership of 110, Zahoor collecting 11 fours and nine sixes on his way to 137 and Hook’s 65 containing nine fours and three sixes. Graeme Simpson had six mighty sixes and two fours in a jaunty 56. Matt Norvall and Arron Lilley took four wickets each.

Ryan Robinson’s 94 and Ben Potter’s undefeated 60 were features of Hoylandswaine’s 197-run eclipse of Holmfirth who were bowled out for 95, Richard Wilkinson taking 4-8.

Barkisland opener Jamie Summerscales had an unbeaten 119 but his side lost by nine wickets to Elland for whom Paul Winrow carried his bat for 103.

Simon proves the Main man against Elsecar

Ian Simon was in top form as Houghton Main defeated Elsecar.

He took 4-38 and Mohammed Ilyas claimed 3-25 as Elsecar were held at 138-9 and then opened and struck nine boundaries in his 67 before Main won at 142-8.

Another Premier Division all-rounder in form was Aston Hall’s Uzman Azeem with 5-50 in Upper Haugh’s 182, and an innings of 67, including 12 boundaries, in the home side’s reply of 183-4.

Hallam held Coal Aston to 147-9, Joe Cooper taking 3-31, and followed with 148-3, Nick Dymock cracking 78.

Wath made the trip to Norton Oakes worthwhile when containing the hosts to 191-6, Alex Hughes scoring 72 with nine boundaries, and Dave Revill making 43. The visitors went on to win at 193-5, with half-centuries from opener Derek Mitchell and Rob Barlow.

Treeton openers Steve Foster and Scott Cunningham were back in the pavilion cheaply and Gareth Davis hit their top score of 45 out of 132 against the attack of Haidar Jahangir (5-16) and Lesroy Weekes (4-51). Wickersley eased home to a maximum return, at 136-4, Jordan Bethel unbeaten on 59.

Whitley Hall continued their fine start when holding much-improved Whiston to 156-8, Andy Tomlinson cracking 53. Hall replied with 158-5, opener Neil Longhurst getting his side off to a good start with a knock of 69, including 13 fours.

Barnsley B tied with guests Kexborough in Division One, Barnsley collecting 186, opener Andy Clayton making 89, including 12 boundaries, before Kexborough were all out for 186, opener Andy Moore making 88.

There were just two century-makers and both in the same match.

Treeton B opener George Barnes hit an unbeaten 120 in his side’s 205-4 at Wickersley B in Division Two, and hosts opener Matt Burton responded with an unbeaten 103 in Wickersley’s 207-1 reply.

Millhouses’ Brad Sampson took 8-31 to dismiss Hallam B for 76 as they chased a 106 target in Division Two.

Davies joins an elite list with all-10 feat

James Davies equalled a 41-year-old league record when he took all 10 Bilton wickets for just 15 runs but then had a nail-biting afternoon until Otley managed to claw their way to victory.

Davies’s 10.2-over spell which included five maidens, equalled Tony Crowther’s record set for Guiseley against Horsforth. He becomes only the 11th Aire Wharfe player to take all 10, a list which includes Yorkshire legend Hedley Verity, who achieved it for Rawdon in 1941.

Having skittled Bilton for 72, Davies might have thought his side were in for a comfortable afternoon but Will Liddle also took advantage of the conditions and picked up 8-45 to rock Otley.

It took a tense last-wicket stand of 15 between Matt O’Grady and John Brough to take the points.

Ross Sedgley smashed 30 fours and two sixes in racing to 164 not out off 116 balls and even though that allowed Beckwithshaw to declare on 266-2, Follifoot’s James Ford (90no) and Tom Clayton (36no) restricted the leaders to five points.

Nick Brook (5-15) starred as second-placed Burley eased past Guiseley and Ryan Sharrocks (50) led Collingham’s continuing revival with a win over Steeton.

A century stand between Robbie Miller (81) and Charlie Swallow (54) put Ben Rhydding on the way to victory over Harden, while Alex Robinson (76), Lee Gordon (51) and Paul Malone (60no) helped Kirkstall to 247-5 but Adam Morgan (81) ensured Pool held on for the draw.

Stuart Carey (79) top scored for Division Two leaders Knaresborough but they took only four points at Colton allowing Thackley to close when Chris Luxton (64no) and Yasser Ali (80no) swept them past North Leeds’s 156 with nine wickets in hand.

Sean Kirkley marked his promotion to Tong Park Esholt’s first team with a 5-39 spell as Adel were dismissed for 123 and then smashed 42 in 21 balls to earn his side all six points.

Geoff Myers (5-26) led the way as Rawdon won at Bardsey while Lee Margerison (87) and Mike Oldfield (6-62) were the main contributors to Bolton Villas’ win at Green Lane.
