Clearance given for Al Kazeem to run for glory at Longchamp

AL Kazeem has been given the go-ahead to run in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.

Trainer Roger Charlton and owner John Deer have decided to let the triple Group One winner take his chance in the Paris showpiece on October 6.

The horse’s participation was in doubt after defeats in York’s Juddmonte International and then the Irish Champion Stakes, but jockey James Doyle believes the five-year-old ran a very respectable Arc trial at Leopardstown 10 days ago.

Although the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot two weeks later had been under consideration, Deer said the likelihood of give in the ground at Longchamp influenced the decision to run in the Arc.

He said: “Ascot came into it, but I suppose the main thing was the ground at Longchamp – it seems it will be good to soft.

n Green Door is likely to be supplemented for the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes following his game victory at Doncaster last Friday.

The Olly Stevens-trained colt banished memories of a no-show at York in August by winning the Group Two Flying Childers Stakes by a length-and-a-quarter.

Although Green Door has an alternative engagement at Longchamp on Arc weekend, it is more probable he will be added to the field for the Newmarket Group One on October 12.

Stevens said: “We’ve always thought a lot of this horse, but he was getting to the point when people were beginning to lose faith in him.”

n Tac De Boistron will be aimed at the Prix du Cadran at Longchamp on October 6 after his effortless win at Chester on Saturday. The Marco Botti-trained six-year-old was having just his second start for his new stable.

Meanwhile, Tac De Bostron’s brother De Boitron, placed at two Cheltenham Festivals, will be trained this season by Grand National-winning trainer Sue Smith. The switch follows Ferdy Murphy’s relocation to France.
