Wind farm company ready to listen

People living close to the site of a new wind farm, currently being built to the north of Sheffield, are being invited to be part of a community liaison committee to keep the public informed on the project’s progress.

Banks Renewables, part of The Banks Group, is currently constructing Hazlehead wind farm on land between the villages of Crow Edge and Carlecotes to the west of Barnsley.

The community liaison panel will meet every few months to get the latest information on the scheme and feed back comments from local people.

Construction should take nine months and, when fully operational, the three turbines will generate up to seven megawatts of electricity a year.

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at The Banks Group, said: “The formation of the community liaison committee provides a valuable forum for engagement with local people where we can ensure that they are kept up-to-date on progress with the wind farm and local people can raise any matters with our project team.”
