There are already major delays on the railways and several roads have been closed.

This live blog has now ended and the yellow wind warning over Yorkshire has been lifted by the Met Office.

Edinburgh / Newcastle / York / Leeds - London Kings Cross

A speed restriction is in place at various locations on the route between Edinburgh / York / Leeds and Grantham.

Some LNER services between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross will terminate/start at Newcastle, not calling at stations north of Newcastle.

Where services do run, your whole journey may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Due to this, restrictions for tickets dated today (Dec 21) have been lifted and tickets are valid on LNER services on throughout Thursday (Dec 21) and Friday (Dec 22).

Storm Pia has brought trees down across Yorkshire, including on Crowther Avenue, Calveryley, Leeds.
