Video: Dramatic footage shows police pursuit through Yorkshire

Sparks flew from a generator being towed by a pickup as police pursued it through Yorkshire in the early hours.

The footage shared by North Yorkshire Police’s Road Crime Team shows part of the pursuit, which began on the A19 Selby Road on Wednesday.

Officers had spotted a pickup using false number plates, which was towing a generator.

The generator had a wheel missing and was creating sparks as it travelled.

Police pursued the vehicle on the A19, then onto Common Lane in Norton and along an unmade road in South Yorkshire.

It then went onto Moss Road at Askern, where is smashed through the barriers of a level crossing.

A police spokesman said: " During the pursuit, the generator became detached from the pickup and was recovered by the police.

"The suspects were not found and an investigation is ongoing to trace them and the pickup."
