UKIP MEP defiant over fine

A YORKSHIRE and Humber MEP has had his allowances docked for seven days after an outburst that saw him expelled from the European Parliament.

Godfrey Bloom, the UKIP MEP, has been fined seven days' subsistence allowance for calling German socialist leader Martin Schulz an "undemocratic fascist".

"If they think docking my lunch-money will stop me speaking out on behalf of my constituents' welfare, they have another think coming," said Mr Bloom, who has appealed against the decision.

That Parliament said the penalty was "appropriate and proportional".
