The charity shop Disney film that turned out to be a hard porn video

Two children who sat down to watch The Little Mermaid on video ended up watching pornography after a charity shop sales blunder.

Kirsty Carey, 24, thought she had bought the Disney film from a British Heart Foundation shop but was shocked as pornographic images flashed before the eyes of children Millie, five, and Kaiden, three.

Miss Carey, of Chickenley, Dewsbury, said: "I opened the case and it wasn't an official Disney video but it was only 50p so I wasn't bothered about that. I thought the shop must have tested it because it was rewound.

"I put it in and nipped to the toilet and when I got back the kids were asking what it was and what the people were doing. They're too young to hear about the birds and the bees."

Miss Carey complained but was told staff did not have time to check every video.

The charity is investigating how the adult video ended up on sale.

BHF deputy retail director Diane Locke apologised to Miss Carey and her children and said: "As soon as we were informed, all videos on sale in the Dewsbury shop were taken off the shop floor and thoroughly checked before they went on sale again.

"All videos donated should be inspected. Unfortunately, it appears on this occasion the inspection was not made."

She said the charity was now making sure all staff were properly trained and its donation checking policy was being followed.
