NATIONAL park chiefs in the Yorkshire Dales have been commended on the standard of their public toilets.

Judges from the 2010 Loo of the Year Awards inspected the 10 toilets owned or managed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and gave one a top five-star rating and put the other nine conveniences in the four-star category.

The national park authority’s project and estates officer, Paul Drake, said: “This is fantastic news for the authority and a big improvement on last year when we received seven four-star ratings and three three-star ones.

“The loo at the Aysgarth National Park centre received the five-star rating.”

The nine toilets which received four stars are at Buckden, Grassington, Linton Falls, Malham, Stainforth, Horton, Clapham, Kettlewell and Hawes.
