Stephen Butcher
Elected to the authority in 1994, he represented the Calton, Gargrave and Malhamdale wards until his retirement from local politics in 2010.
He held the office of council chairman in 2001-2, and served on a range of committees including planning, licensing, community services, economic development, regeneration, environmental services, estates and leisure.

Hide AdHe also represented the council on outside bodies, including the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
He farmed with his sons at Fleets Farm in Rylstone.
He and his wife Moira had three children, Sarah, James and Simon.
