Show with added needle

CACTUS enthusiast Brian Scott lovingly tends his plants at home in South Yorkshire as he makes final preparations for his society’s annual show.

Mr Scott, from Rotherham, will be exhibiting his cacti in the show at Sheffield Botanical Gardens later this month, which is being hosted by the city’s branch of the British Cactus and Succulent Society.

The 57th annual event, which takes place on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27, includes a plant sale and a tombola as well as an exhibition of cacti.

The guest of honour at the show will be Sheffield-born cactus expert Brian Fearn, who will judge the various competition categories. The event will be open from noon until 5pm on the Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on the Sunday.
