Seized stock goes under
the hammer

THE entire stock of a North Lincolnshire equestrian supplies and country clothing store is to be auctioned off next week after being seized by bailiffs acting on behalf of the High Court.

The stock, including riding boots, jackets, stable equipment and animal feed, will be sold in an online auction by Scunthorpe-based industrial auctioneers CJM Asset Management.

CJM director Paul Cooper said bailiffs had been instructed to seize the stock of the business in lieu of unpaid debts.

He said: “As people may be aware, many retailers are having a tough time at the moment and there has recently been an upsurge in the bailiff work that we are being asked to handle as firms struggle to pay their bills.

Lincolnshire is not having a harder time than the rest of the country but the ongoing economic crisis is now producing a steady flow of local casualties. Clearly the people who own and ride horses tend to come from the more affluent parts of the community but, as the problems at this firm indicate, no one is immune from the cutback in consumer spending.”
