Rugby stadium hosts health centre

HULL KR have announced their latest signing – a deal to bring new health facilities to the club's Craven Park Stadium.

Rovers chairman Neil Hudgell formally signed an agreement with Christopher Long, chief executive of NHS Hull, that will see a 300,000 development at the East Hull ground.

The Health and Lifestyle Centre, which is due to open in April, will provide a range of free services including smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol reduction and NHS health checks.

General health advice will also be available.

Mr Hudgell said: "As a club, we are committed to improving the lives of people in our community.

"We are therefore delighted to be working with NHS Hull to develop the health and wellbeing centre.

"The creation of the new facility signifies the first phase of our stadium improvement programme."

Mr Long added: "The new health and wellbeing centre will help to improve the health of thousands of residents in the east of the city, whilst the location will undoubtedly attract people who may not traditionally take much interest in their health, but who may be drawn to the rugby ground as a sports fan."
