Red and Green unite to save historic club

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to fully re-open a former socialist club which once hosted visits by suffragettes and Labour leaders.

The former Milnsbridge Socialist Club in Huddersfield closed in June but Green Party and Labour activists have united to rebrand it as the Red and Green Club.

Work has started to raise £100,000 to buy and restore the building, which dates back to 1892.

The building is currently used for meetings and other functions but local councillors want to widen its use. Earlier this week a party was held to raise money towards the campaign.
