Police in West Yorkshire praised over work tackling hate crimes
It is “particularly distressing to be a victim of crime because of who you are or what you believe” and forces must get their response to hate crimes right first time, according to the new report published today by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.

They also praised the panels it had set up to scrutinise its efforts to tackle hate crime, which involve members of the public.
Her Majesty’s Inspector Wendy Williams, who led the inspection, said good practice had “to be consistent, both within forces and across all forces”.
Chief Constable Dee Collins, of West Yorkshire Police, said the force was pleased to have been praised but it was not complacent and had already made further improvements.
