Police appeal over fatal collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man died and a baby was seriously injured in a collision between a BMW and a lorry at Redhouse, Doncaster.

The teenager was a passenger in the BMW 316 Compact 
driven by a 31-year-old man which was heading towards 
Doncaster on the A638 Great North Road when it pulled into a layby.

It then turned out of the lay-by and started a U-turn directly in front of a white lorry.

The BMW spun off the road and knocked down a road sign.

The teenager, from Rotherham, suffered fatal injuries.

The one-year-old baby, from Wath, suffered life-threatening head injuries and is being
treated at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

A 22-year-old woman in the car and the driver, both from Wath, were also hurt.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The lorry driver and his passenger suffered slight injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the BMW being driven before the crash or the collision on Thursday at 12.20pm
