Pipeline upgrade to improve gas supply
Work is under way to upgrade the pipeline in the Willerby Road and Gypsyville areas and is expected to be completed by the end of June.
Engineers from United Utilities and Morgan Est will carry out the work on behalf of the East Riding's gas pipeline owner, Northern Gas Networks.

Hide AdA total of 9.9km of old metal gas mains will be replaced with modern plastic piping, which is safer and more reliable.
The move will protect the integrity of the gas supply for hundreds of customers in the area, the firm said.
The upgrade in the Gypsyville area will benefit residents in Wistow Grove, Coxwold Grove, St Bede Court, Hayton Grove, Midway Grove, Norton Grove, Rawcliffe Grove, Seaton Grove and The Greenway. In total 3.8km – about 2.2 miles – of ageing metal pipe will be replaced on this job.
Work in the Willerby Road area will see 6.1km – about 3.7 miles – of old pipe replaced, affecting residents in Chester Road, Hotham Drive, Hunsley Avenue, Julian Close, Mayland Avenue, Nelson Road, Reldene Drive, Ridgeway Road, Sandycroft Close, Willerby Road, Wold Road, Wymersley Road and Hotham Road South.

Hide AdNorthern Gas Networks' director Chris Gorman said: "We will do everything we can to minimise any disruption. This year, Northern Gas Networks will invest 80m renewing gas mains to ensure that our system remains one of the safest in the world.
"The good news is that we will be using modern technology to reduce the number of excavations we need to complete the work, and our new plastic pipes are more durable and flexible and have a lifespan of at least 80 years."
