Pedestrian, 79, suffers life-threatening injuries in South Yorkshire car accident

A 79-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Barnsley town centre.

The elderly pedestrian collided with a silver Ford Focus car outside Barnsley College in Old Mill Lane yesterday at around 12.40pm.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the pedestrian was left in hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car, a 67-year-old man, was not injured during the incident.
