Speedy NHS gets theatregoer back to the show

From: Christine Cox, Rothbury Street, Scarborough.

FOR many years now, I have been bringing coach parties from Scarborough to Leeds Grand Theatre. This special venue brings us a world of wonderful entertainment.

Last week we were privileged to attend the gala performance of the Irving Berlin musical Top Hat and one of my ladies had the misfortune to fall on the theatre staircase, resulting in a head injury.

With speed and efficiency she was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with her friend and I understand her treatment was second to none. She was dealt with promptly and brought back to the theatre in time for the second half of the show which was amazing and a relief to me as the organiser of the group.

On behalf of Mrs Cook and myself, I should like to express a huge thank you to the staff of Leeds Grand Theatre and also the A&E Department at the LGI for the kindness and special care they gave. We really appreciated your concern.

i READ your review of Top Hat with interest (Yorkshire Post, December 1).

It was a good review but your reviewer missed a key point – there was no mention of the person responsible for the fabulous songs.

The songs were not written by Fred and Ginger, but by arguably the greatest songwriter of the 20th century, Irving Berlin. He deserved a mention.
