Passing the buck on NHS
THE latest dilemma of the NHS overspending and the parlous state of the care of the elderly is nothing new and has been developing over the last two Labour governments of Blair and Brown, but Red Ed Miliband is doing his best to pass the buck and blame the present government for the ills of the NHS etc.
His latest pronouncement to advance his party’s discredited policies must surely reinforce the view of the electorate that he is living in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Hide AdThe Labour Party under his leadership is floundering and consequently there is little or no effective opposition to the struggling Coalition, which is equally struggling against the Lib Dem / Clegg ambitions to wreck the so-called co-operation with Cameron simply to feather their own nest and the advancement of the Lib Dem cause.
Attack of the clones
From: Michael Ellison, Knapping Hill, Harrogate.
REGARDING the article about a cloned number plate (Yorkshire Post, December 26), I am surprised by the non-acceptance of responsibility and apparent non-action by the authorities.
I have viewed various TV programmes showing footage of police officers in their patrol vehicles. All these cars have Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).
When the equipment identifies a problem, the officers are alerted.

Surely this is a situation where simple legislation could be introduced to protect innocent motorists who have had their number plate cloned?
Scargill date
From: John Hodgson, Oakwood, Leeds.
I WAS amazed to see that Barnsley Civic are to mark the 30th anniversary of Arthur Scargill’s election as NUM president (Yorkshire Post, December 23). Presumably a black tie event ?
